SQL tip for ProLaw Queries: LEN and DATALENGTH on different data types

ProLaw Tip: Need to rebill a statement with a payment applied and a check that has been cashed?

If you have a statement for a client that has been paid, and the check has been cashed, you are unable to unbill this in ProLaw.   If you need to either adjust the bill, or rebill the value, there is an easy way to modify the payment so you can unbill, and then rebill the values.

Importing data to ProLaw from Excel

We recently had an issue were we were importing data from Excel sheets into a staging table in SQL, then importing that data into ProLaw.  Some of the fields in excel were getting truncated and causing issues on the imports.

Backing up and Restoring ProLaw document type templates

Error or hang when opening documents from a Document search in ProLaw’s Events module

If you are running ProLaw 11.x and Office 2010, you may occasionally experience this bug.  There may be an error in ProLaw along the lines of “unable to accept the drop” in the Events window.  This only happens with documents from the Events window, they work correctly when opened from the events tab in Matters.

Duplicate entries on ProLaw Prebill or Statement?

Occasionally when testing statement formats, running pre-bills, or printing statements you may find that you have duplicate entries on your bill.  This is most commonly due to the fact that two people have the “Print Prebills and Statements” window open.

Enable Extended Logging in ProLaw XII for troubleshooting

If you are about to open a support ticket or are having issues with ProLaw XII it’s possible to enable extended logging to help troubleshoot the issue.  In order to make this useful, you would need to turn on logging, then attempt to reproduce the error.
